City News 2002 Twilight Concerts to Resume in September Twilight concerts are set to resume at the Community Center on Sundays in the Fall. Full details will be published via the calendar of events page on this web site, when they become known 08/01/2002 Sun Coast Beach Trolley Fare & Schedule Update The Beach Trolley starts at 5:45am daily and ends at 9:30pm, Sunday-Thursday and midnight Fridays and Saturdays. The Trolley runs at 30 minute intervals. Some times vary with traffic and weather conditions. Fares: Per Ride $1.25 Daily Go Card - per day $3.00 Reduced Daily Go Card* $1.50 7 Day Unlimited $12.00 *ID is required to use reduced fare Go-Card or when paying a reduced cash fare. PSTA can be reached at 727-530-9911. Bicycle passes can also be obtained call 727-363-9231. 05/01/2002 TI Causeway Passes 2002 Passes are now on sale at a cost of $30 per vehicle. Applications are taken at TI City Hall between 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A 'by-mail' service is also available. 01/02/2002 Kitesville USA Kites will be back on Treasure Island this January, with the regional convention of the American Kite Flyers Association taking place on TI beach, near the Bilmar Beach Resort. The key dates to view spectacular skills and unusual kites are January 19th & 20th. Times 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Vendors will be present, as will a 'kite making for kids' session each day at 1:30 p.m. Also a public kite auction will take place at 9:00 p.m. in the Bilmar Beach resort, Sunset Room on Saturday. 01/02/2002 Twilight Concerts The 2002 season is underway with performances through to April 21st. The concerts take place at the Treasure Island Community  Center, 106th Ave & Gulf Blvd. Artists & times vary. Please contact TI Recreation department for full details. 01/02/2002 Paradise Island Golf, Tennis & Recreation Center Located at 10315 Paradise Blvd - 727-547-4575. There is a fun & challenging 9-hol par 3 course which overlooks the intracoastal waterway. Green Fees are $8+ tax for 18 holes and $6+ tax for 9 holes after 2:00 p.m. All equipment can be rented on-site and the putting green is free. Tennis can be played on the asphalt courts for free also and there are clay courts, 8 in total, which can be reserved (48 hours notice required). Session costs $4 per person. Private lessons can be arranged at modest rates. The Recreation Center also boasts a volley ball court, regulation size basketball court, a horseshoe pit, shuffleboard courts, playground and picnic pavilions. The Gulf Beaches Library (on-site) has internet facilities available to the public. 01/02/2002 2001 Sun Coast Beach Trolley On December 31, 2000, the city of Treasure Island joined together with other beach communities to inaugurate the new Suncoast Beach Trolley. The trolley runs every 30 minutes from 05:45 to 22:00, 7 days a week, including holidays. The route takes you along Gulf Boulevard from Sand Key in Clearwater to Pass-A-Grill. The fare is $1.00 per ride. Alternatively you can purchase a GO Card which allows unlimited rides for $2.50 a day on all the PSTA busses. In addition, the No.3 bus that runs from downtown St. Petersburg connects at Gulf Boulevard with the Suncoast Beach Trolley, making it convenient for residents and visitors to travel the beaches as well as go to downtown St. Petersburg. The PTSA will provide demand response transportation services for residents of Treasure Island with disabilities and are unable to independently use the trolley. Information is available from PSTA 727-530-9921 Residential Shuttle Service The City of Treasure Island is providing residential shuttle services to connect the neighborhood with the new Suncoast Trolley on Gulf Boulevard and Treasure Island Causeway. The fare is 25 cents and operates on a 1 hour cycle Monday, Wednesday & Friday only, from 08:00-12:00 & 13:00-17:00. Schedules are available from City Hall 547-4575 ext 234 Cablecasting of City Commission Meetings Time Warner Cablevision and the City of Treasure Island have started to broadcast live the Treasure Island City Commission meetings and workshops. Time Warner has assigned Channel 15 for the broadcast. Web Site News 2002 August 2002 - Treasure Island Web Site re-design progressing well: As of today, August 1st, 2002, the vast majority of the pages have been modified to the new format and completion is scheduled for September as planned. The calendar facility, which up until now has been unfunctional, will also be completed. The calendar page will list major events on Treasure Island throughout the year, so if you wish to be here for a certain event, then you can now plan accordingly. The calendar will be updated regularly as events become known. 08/01/2002 July 2002 - Treasure Island Web Site undergoing major re-design: During the months of July, August & September our web site will undergo a major re-design (this page in fact, is an example of the new format). We are streamlining and simplifying the navigation system, providing a much improved visual layout and adding more features and links, to encompass the greater Tampa Bay area and beyond.
